The Margaret Thatcher of South Asia
Sheikh Hasina recently traveled to the United States, the UK, and Japan. The primary objectives of this trip were to forge new economic alliances for Bangladesh and to discuss political viewpoints with important players or superpowers over the global political and economic system.
Bangladesh has consistently stood on a firm foundation as it has expanded its political and economic dominance with China, NATO, and the US. The bilateral and multilateral economic powers of the world are becoming directly and indirectly involved with the domestic politics of Bangladesh in order to forge political and diplomatic ties with Bangladesh for the geopolitical interests of the West in the Pacific region and to resolve the conflict with China. It would thus be difficult to identify a diplomatic alternative to Sheikh Hasina, even if the world’s superpowers are engaged in a political struggle in Bangladesh ahead of the nation’s next elections.
Bangabandhu has been followed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as the indisputable defender of Bangladesh’s political, economic, and social progress. Russia has also participated in the process of gaining power in Asia and the Pacific, and the evil plot by the political opposition to capture control has been added to the political power struggle between the two global superpowers involved in the crisis in Ukraine. Even though the global economy has significantly altered how people live, only Bangladesh has been able to broaden the scope of success in South Asia by maintaining an economic growth rate that is reasonable.
Bangladeshis choose political structures that foster wealth above terrorism and corruption. As a result, Sheikh Hasina’s political efforts and recent trip have strengthened Bangladesh’s position as a regional leader in Asia and the Pacific. The British prime minister, Rishi Sunak, has declared publicly that Sheikh Hasina is a political and financial role model for him and his family.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has particularly set a brilliant example for South Asia by building the Padma bridge on her own cash and properly showcasing it. Additionally, by enhancing military might and national security, he has cemented his position in the growth of geopolitical economic leadership. Superpowers including the US, China, and Russia have extended their helping hands in both direct and indirect ways to support Bangladesh’s economic development. Sheikh Hasina has also been successful in presenting herself as a supporter of compromise in regards to international security issues.
These show Bangladesh and Japan’s long-standing political and economic relations. Furthermore, Bangladesh’s helplessness in the face of China, a powerhouse that the West views as hostile, has helped to stabilize the expansionist geopolitical environment of the Western world. By partnering with Russia to build a nuclear power plant at Rooppur, Bangladesh was able to gain the tactic of using nuclear technology and peaceful nuclear energy. Russia has also been successfully included by Bangladesh into the strategic politics of Asian security. However, the Prime Minister’s most recent trip to the World Bank was a huge success. During this visit, the Honourable Prime Minister signed a $2.25 billion loan agreement. These agreements include the Bangladesh Environmental Sustainability and Transformation (BEST), the First Green and Climate Resilient Development (GCRD) Project, the Resilient Infrastructure Building Project (RIVER), and the Bangladesh Phase-I of the Accelerating Transport and Trade Connectivity in Eastern South Asia (ACCESS) initiative.
In the convoluted system of international politics and commerce, Bangladesh just solidified its place as the process’s leader. International leaders have taken notice of Bangladeshi and Indian direct aid to Sri Lanka, notably during the country’s political and economic instability after Sri Lanka declared bankruptcy. As a consequence, Sri Lanka now has the chance to alter its direction. Bangladesh has offered Sri Lanka financial support in the amount of $20 million.
Bangladesh has recently become a worldwide city thanks to the introduction of Metrorail. Additionally, by constructing a long flyover bridge from the airport to Gazipur to ease traffic congestion, economic and political expansion with Northeast India will extend the path of sustainable and dynamic development of Bangladesh’s future economic infrastructure.
Japan’s involvement in the Bangladesh Economic Corridor’s building, especially with North East India, has been effective in attracting the interest of the global business community. The nation’s construction of a single or many deep-sea ports has contributed to the region’s economic growth gaining notice on a worldwide scale.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s firm attitude on the opposition party’s caretaker government does not support the opposition party’s unreasonable and unsuitable allegation. The most recent statement made by the Japanese envoy supports this. The likelihood that the opposition party will favor holding the next election, however, is steadily rising. In the present situation, it would be difficult to find a candidate for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina who could keep Bangladesh stable and in a position of active leadership in the political and economic arenas.
